NAGPUR paddler Jennifer Varghese, who is making huge waves at the international table tennis circuit, bagged a total of three medals at the recently concluded prestigious World Table Tennis Youth Contender Championships in Perth, Australia.
Jennifer added U-19 girls singles bronze on Sunday to her Under-17 girls singles gold and U-19 mixed doubles silver won earlier in the meet.
In the U-19 girls quarter-final, Jennifer overcame Australian Chloe Cheng (3-1).
Jennifer confidently sailed through the first game 11-6, but the Aussie came back quicker in the second game to win 9-11.
Jennifer then took control taking two games 11-6, 11-8.
The Nagpur lass went down to 19-year-old Kiwi Li Cheuk Tung 11-7, 11-5, 12-10 in
straight games in the semis
and had to be content with a bronze.
On Thursday, Jennifer clinched the U-17 singles crown.
She beat Australian Constantina Psihogios in the summit clash.
Jennifer, who trains in Chennai, bagged another medal winning silver in the U-19 mixed doubles with her 17-year-old Delhi partner Sudhanshu Maini.
