Staff Reporter :
A new fraud case has come to light at Meditrina Hospital in Ramdaspeth. The Sitabuldi police have filed a case against Dr Sameer Narayanrao Paltewar and his associates for cheating the Government of Rs 2.37 crore.
Those named in the case include Dr Paltewar’s wife Sonali Paltewar, son Ninad Paltewar, Paulomi Paltewar, Arpan Pande, and others. The complaint was filed by Ganesh Chakkarwar, a 65-year-old income tax consultant who lives in Ramdaspeth.
This is not the first case against Dr Paltewar. In the past, a Rs 17 crore scam was reported involving him and 15 others. This is now the sixth case filed against him and his team.
According to the police, Dr Paltewar and his group diverted money received under two government health schemes - Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana and Ayushman Bharat Yojana - to a fake company named Obivet Health Care Private Limited between April 2023 and March 2025.
The company existed only
on paper and was created to commit fraud. A total of Rs 1.96 crore from the Phule scheme and Rs 35.69 lakh from the Ayushman Bharat scheme were illegally transferred to this fake company.
Investigators believe this
scam may be part of a bigger fraud that could be over Rs 15 crore. The police are continuing their investigation.
