Kashish wins silver for Mah

 

 

 

CITY lass Kashish Bhagat bagged silver medal at 1000 metre medley relay in Under-18 category for Maharashtra at the 40th National Junior Group Athletics Championship in Bhubaneswar. Kashish, a student of Mahatma Gandhi English Medium High School and Junior College missed on the yellow metal by a whisker. The Maharashtra relay team comprised Kashish along with Shaurya Amrute, Swanandi Sawant and Bhumika Nehate. The team clocked 2 minutes 12.45 seconds to clinch the silver medal.

 

The gold medal was won by Tamil Nadu with a time of 2 minutes 11.58 seconds and the bronze medal went to Haryana with a time of 2 minutes 12.29 seconds. Kashish, who also participated in the 400 metre race, recorded her career best time of 56.01 seconds but had to be content with the fourth place. She had previously won medals in the Khelo India Youth Games, National School Athletics Championship and Inter-District National Junior Group Championship. She is trained by school’s sports teacher Ramchandra Wani. Nagpur District Athletics Association President Gurudev Nagrale, Chairman Umesh Naidu, Vice-Presidents Shekhar Surwavanshi and Nagesh Sahare, Selection Committee Chairman Jitendra Ghordadekar, Technical Committee Chairman Dr Vibekanand Singh along with Ravindra Tong, Ramchandra Wani, Archana Kotewar, Ganesh Wani congratulated Kashish for the medal she won.
