A young man lost his life in a hit-and-run incident in Gittikhadan early on Sunday morning. According to police, Vachan Anil Kumar Mehami (27), resident of Vrindavan Colony, Katol Road, was riding his Activa scooter (MH-31/EV-4785) on Gittikhadan Square, between 1 am and 1.15 am. An unknown vehicle struck his scooter at high speed, and Vachan fell on the road. He sustained grievous head injuries in the mishap.

 

The driver fled the scene. Vachan was rushed to Mayo Hospital, where doctors declared him dead at around 6 am. He is survived by father Anil, mother Neeta, brother Abhishek and sister Gauri. His last rites were performed at Friends Colony Ghat. His father, Anilkumar Contd from page 1 Saravankumar Mehami (63), filed a complaint at Gittikhadan Police Station, and the police have registered a case under Sections 281, 106 of BNS and 134, 177 MVA. Police said the investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to identify the driver responsible for the fatal accident.
