To deal with black spots, one where garbage gets dumped, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has hit upon an idea of beautifying them as part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. About 50 such spots have been identified throughout the city in 10 zones by the Solid Waste Management Department. Civic body officials feels that once these spots are beautified the appearance of city would get enhanced. Additional Municipal Commissioner Vasumana Pant thought about uplifting the city's image and the concept of beautifying the spots that are notorious for dumping of garbage would eliminate thankless job of sanitation workers and also bring about change in citizen’s approach. Pant instructed officials of Solid Waste Management to carry out survey of black spots and survey the same so that in first phase 50 sites can be beautified.

The staff has been asked to take up five sites that see maximum garbage dumping in each of the zone. The Additional Municipal Commissioner asked the ground staff to identify the reasons why these spots see dumping of garbage so that in case of any deficiency in garbage collection that is done at door to door then systematic alterations can be done. Also the concerned Cleanliness Inspectors is entrusted responsibility of beautifying these spots. NMC has set deadline of November 15 to eliminate 50 notorious dumping sites. The staff of Solid Waste Management are also directed to ensure that once the site is beautified they should ensure that same does not get defaced again.
