The carcass of leopard found at the Nisarg Ispat Private Limited campus in Ghughra village, Sihora late on Friday night, has caused a stir. Soon after receiving information, the Divisional Forest Officer and other officials personally arrived at the site to conduct further investigation.
 
As a case of wild boar poaching had recently been reported at Nisarg Ispat Private Limited, located in Ghughra village, Sarda Beat Circle, Sihora Forest Range, under the Jabalpur Forest Division. While the investigation into the incident was underway, another leopard carcass was found trapped in bushes on the factory campus. Observing the seriousness of the matter, a dog squad has been called to the scene.
 
The Forest Department was preparing to conduct a search of the entire factory to uncover other wildlife crimes. Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Rishi Mishra said that information was received from an informer that a leopard carcass was found amidst bushes at the campus of Nisarg Ispat Private Limited Company located at village Ghughra, within Jabalpur Forest Division’s Sihora Range. Soon a team from the Forest Department reached the scene and informed senior officials of the incident. The cause of the leopard’s death is being investigated.
 
The dog squad is also being used for a thorough examination of the scene. During the inspection of the area around the scene, the carcass of a wild boar was also recovered. Previously, on October 12, 2025, a wild boar’s death had been reported in the area. A forest offense case has been registered and is being investigated. The carcass of the said dead leopard and wild boar have been brought to the Veterinary College, School of Wildlife, Forensic and Health, Jabalpur, where the post-mortem of the bodies will be conducted on Sunday i.e. October 26, 2025.
