The Meteorological Centre, Raipur, has forecast light to moderate rainfall at several
places across Chhattisgarh over the next few days, as a depression forming over the southeast Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm by October 27.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the depression moved westward and is likely to strengthen into a deep depression by Sunday, later evolving into a cyclonic storm over the southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal. By October 28, it may turn into a severe cyclonic storm and is expected to cross the Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, with wind speeds reaching up to 110 kmph.
The weather department has warned of thunderstorms with lightning at isolated places in
Chhattisgarh and advised citizens to stay alert. The system’s impact may increase rainfall activity across the state from October 27 onwards, with heavy to very heavy rain likely at one or two places in south
Chhattisgarh on October 28 and 29. On Saturday, the highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded in Raipur at 32.9°C, while the lowest minimum temperature was reported in Ambikapur at 17.9°C. Most parts of the state experienced humid conditions, with morning humidity levels ranging from 80% to 90%. No significant rainfall was reported in major cities, although Jagdalpur received light showers of 1.8 mm. Rainfall data also indicated notable precipitation in Gidam (4 cm), Bhairamgarh, Nangur, Barsur, and Chhotedongar (2 cm). For Raipur city,
