BALCO Medical Centre, Naya Raipur organised a special cycling event ‘BMC Cyclothon-25’ on the occasion of World Breast Cancer Awareness Month here on Sunday. The special cycling event commenced at 6.30 am from Marine Drive passing through the Gaurav Path and culminated at the starting point. Aligning with the WHO theme ‘Every story is unique, every journey matters’, the event aimed to raise awareness about cancer and spread the message ‘Break the silence – speak up about lumps’. Participation in this special event was completely free and a large number of Raipurians joined the movement for health and awareness. During the event, Medical Director of Balco Medical Centre Dr Bhawna Sirohi spoke about the common symptoms of cancer and informed the participants about vaccines available for cancer prevention.

Dr Sirohi said that the main objective of the event was to promote health, fitness and awareness about breast cancer among the citizens of Raipur. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from cycling groups of Raipur, Bhilai and Rajnandgaon, along with Para Olympic Association’s tri-cyclists, AIG Traffic Sanjay Sharma and his Zumba group, and women auto drivers from NRANVP, who together made the event a grand success.

The spirited participation reflected the growing awareness and commitment of the community towards adopting a healthy lifestyle and supporting social causes. As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, BMC also launched a special initiative to provide free 3D mammogram screening for women. The facility includes complimentary doctor consultation and mammography after registration, making advanced breast cancer screening and early detection more accessible to all sections of society. This facility was also available at the BMC Cyclothon-25 starting venue. Dr Sirohi emphasised that early diagnosis plays a crucial role in saving lives and encouraged women to take advantage of the free screening service to ensure better health outcomes.
