Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav lauded transformative role of women in Madhya Pradesh’s economic and social landscape. Addressing the gathering at MP Excellence Awards 2025 held at Kushabhau Thakre Auditorium, Dr Yadav emphasised that women are no longer merely job seekers but are emerging as job creators, significantly contributing to the State’s vision of becoming a ‘growth engine’ for a self-reliant India. Highlighting the strides made by women entrepreneurs, Dr Yadav noted that women now account for over 47% of startups in the State. Through initiatives like Lakhpati Didi Yojana, more than 100,000 women are earning over Rs 1 lakh annually.

Additionally, approximately 6.2 million women are actively involved in over 500,000 self-help groups (SHGs), which are not only enhancing household incomes but also strengthening the state’s economy. These SHGs have expanded their reach into sectors such as production, packaging, marketing, and design, especially in rural areas. Women in Madhya Pradesh are also making significant contributions in agriculture, handicrafts, food processing, textile manufacturing, biotechnology, and the startup ecosystem. Dr Yadav praised the role of social media in empowering women, calling it a vital platform for fostering entrepreneurship and leadership.

The event began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by a Kathak dance performance by young girls. Two short films were screened—one showcasing the initiatives of the Bhopal Women’s Hub and another highlighting the State’s development programmes under Dr Yadav’s leadership. On the occasion of Chhath Puja, Dr Yadav extended his greetings to all. He also reiterated cultural reverence for women in Indian society, drawing parallels with Goddesses Saraswati, Lakshmi and Durga and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to women’s education, health, safety and self-reliance. Several individuals were honoured in two categories for their outstanding contributions. Awardees in Category 1 included Gauranshi Sharma, Sargam Kushwaha, Bhavana Dehariya, and others. Category 2 honorees featured Naman Deshmukh, Simran Bahl, Mayank Tiwari, among others. MLAs Rameshwar Sharma and Bhagwandas Sabnani, along with District President Ravindra Yati were present at the ceremony.
