Three persons were killed while several others injured in a horrific crash on the Nagpur–Jabalpur National Highway No. 44 near Vadamba village on Wednesday afternoon. According to police, the accident occurred when a car (MP-20/ZA-0014) travelling from Nagpur towards Jabalpur collided head-on with a bus (MP-22/ZG-5822) coming from the opposite direction. The bus belonged to Satyam Travels. The car driver reportedly lost control while trying to avoid hitting a two-wheeler coming from the opposite direction.
 
In the process, the car veered in wrong lane and collided with the oncoming bus. The impact was so severe that all three persons in the car died on the spot. Following the impact, the car was reduced to a mangled heap of metal. After the collision, the bus driver managed to pull his vehicle aside but it then hit a stationary truck (RJ-11/GC-6663) near Vadamba village which caused further damage.
 
The deceased have been identified as Kapil Mohanlal Sahani (50), a resident of Gorakhpur Road, Jabalpur, MP; Amit Anil Agarwal (51), a resident of Tilheri, Jabalpur; Sandeep Kedarnath Soni (51), a resident of Bhedaghat Road, Jabalpur. Motorcyclist Rupchand Maruti Deewate (62) and his wife Shakuntala Deewate (54), both from Parseoni, were injured while trying to avoid the accident. In the bus, the driver Raju Chaurasia (35), helper Sanjay Maraskolhe (21), conductor Sanjay Yadav (32), and seven passengers sustained minor injuries. Deolapar Police staff rushed to the scene, cleared the traffic, and shifted the injured to the Rural Hospital in Deolapar. The seriously injured persons were later referred to Nagpur for further treatment. Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
