AFTER two wash-outs, Vidarbha took the field and crushed Delhi by 8 wickets in their last Super League Group A match of the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy in Surat on Wednesday. But it was not enough for them to qualify for the final. Vidarbha finished with 8 points from three matches, but had to wait for the result of the MP vs Karnataka match which was an evening game. In a rain-affected match, reduced to 12-overs-per side, MP beat Karnataka by 17 runs by VJD Method and also finished with 8 points. But they qualified for the final because of their better Net Run Rate (1.733). Vidarbha’s NRR was 0.994. It was sheer bad luck for the Vidarbha team which restricted Delhi to 129-5 before chasing down the target in 18 overs, losing only two wickets.
 
Skipper Disha Kasat and her opening partner Riddhi added 41 in only 4.1 overs, the former fell for 28. Riddhi and Mona Meshram took the score to 80 before the opener was out for 33. Mona and Bharti Fulmali saw their team home, remaining unbeaten on 36 each. Bharti was adjudged the Player of the Match. Brief scores: Delhi 129-5 in 20 overs (Shweta Sehrawat 41, Arti Bahenwal 2-25). Vidarbha 134-2 in 18 overs (Disha Kasat 38, Riddhi 33, Mona Meshram 36 not out, Bharti Fulmali 36 not out). Result: Vidarbha won by 8 wickets. Player of the Match: Bharti Fulmali. U-19 Women’s T20 Trophy Vidarbha’s match against Rajasthan was abandoned due to rain. Vidarbha boys miss out on first innings lead vs Mumbai VIDARBHA fell short of Mumbai’s first innings tally of 164 and ended up conceding a lead of 38 runs on final day of their four-day U-23 CK Nayudu Trophy Group league match that concluded at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium on Wednesday. Resuming on 114-6, Vidarbha’s lower order succumbed to the pressure and lost their remaining four wickets for the addition of only 12 runs.
 
With the first innings lead in their pocket, Mumbai openers, Sumeir Zaveri (61*) and Ayush Jethwa (63) batted fluently and added 126 runs before the latter was dismissed. Both teams agreed to a draw at this stage. Brief scores: Mumbai 1st innings 164 all out in 70.5 overs (Prateek Yadav 63; Gaurav Farde 3-59, Salman Raza 3-28, Arjun Ingle 2-26). Vidarbha 1st innings 126 all out in 50.5 overs (Shree Choudhary 46; Atharva Bhosale 5-35). Mumbai 2nd innings 126-1 in 32.4 overs (Sumeir Zaveri 61*, Ayush Jethwa 63). Result: Match drawn; Mumbai took first innings lead.
