The Chhattisgarh Police Headquarters has put in place an elaborate, multi-layered security grid for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s high-profile visit to Raipur on November 1, coinciding with the State’s Silver Jubilee celebrations. This will be the first time since the formation of Chhattisgarh that a sitting Prime Minister will preside as the Chief guest at the Rajyotsava.
A formidable security command comprising 95 senior officers, including 14 officers of DIG and IG rank, has been constituted under the leadership of
Additional Director General (ADG) of Police, Public Relations and Technical Services, Dipanshu Kabra. He will be assisted by Raipur Range Inspector General (IG) Amresh Mishra and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Lal Umed Singh in supervising all movements and deployments associated with the Prime Minister’s schedule.
As per the itinerary, the Prime Minister will arrive at Raipur airport around 9 am and depart for Delhi at about 4 pm, during which he will participate in five major programmes at Nava Raipur. These include the inauguration of the new Legislative Assembly building, the Tribal Museum, and the Brahma Kumaris Meditation Centre, besides an inspection at Sri Sathya Sai Hospital where he is scheduled to interact with children who recovered from cardiac ailments under a free surgery initiative.
To ensure seamless coordination, separate officer groups have been designated for airport security, route management, escort movements, venue cordoning, and crowd regulation. At the airport, the team is led by DIG Sujeet Kumar, Commandant Prafull Thakur (4th Battalion, Mana), Additional SP Sonia Gharade (Police Academy, Chandkhuri), DSP Rakesh Baghel (PTS Mana), and Assistant Commandant Dinesh Singh (DIP Security Battalion, Mana).
Traffic and route arrangements are supervised by IG OP Pal, DIG Prashant Agrawal, DIG M.R. Ahire, Addl SPs Abhishek Verma, Ramgopal Kariyare, Mukesh Thakur, Sanjay Mahadeva, Abhishek Jha, Garima Dwivedi, Umesh Kumar Kashyap, Kaushlendra Dev Patel, Hemsagar Sidar, Pankaj Patel, Dhirendra Patel, and others from districts including Sukma, Bilaspur, Rajnandgaon, Narayanpur, Jangir, Kondagaon, Gariaband, Baloda Bazar and Korea.
Escort officers DSP Sanjay Sahu (Mungeli) and Assistant Commandant Sudhir Kujur (10th Battalion Surajpur) have been tasked with convoy movement, while SSP Rajesh Agrawal (Sarguja) and SP Vikas Kumar (Raipur) will function as pilot officers.
Assistant Commandant Ashish Mishra (13th Battalion Korba) will act as Carcade Marshal, Assistant Commandant Alok Tiwari (4th Battalion Mana) as Garland Officer, and Assistant Commandants Erman Khalkho (6th Battalion Raigarh) and Lokeshwar Shandilya (12th Battalion Ramanujganj) as Baggage Officers. DSP Archana Choudhary (PTS Mana) is in charge of livery duties.
Security for the Brahma Kumaris Meditation Centre, where the Prime Minister will dedicate the facility, will be monitored by IG Ramgopal Garg (Durg Range). The extended coordination team includes DIG Parul Mathur, DIG Abhishek Meena, IG Ankita Garg (Naxal Operations), IG Ajay Yadav (PHQ), IG Dr Sanjeev Shukla (Bilaspur Range), SPs Shalabh Sinha, Mohit Garg, Aanjaney Verma, Yogesh Kumar Patel, Bhavana Gupta, Laxman Sharma, Suraj Singh Parihar, among others.
The overall force deployment integrates officers across special units—Commandants Pushkar Sharma, Rajesh Kukreja, Manisha Rawate, Nivedita Pal, M.R. Ahire, and Assistant Commandants Gita Wadhwani, Jaylal Markam, Virendra Singh Nanda, Mayank Gurjar, Dr Sangeeta Mahilkar, Teileshwar Minj, Meera Agrawal, and others-to ensure airtight VVIP security management.
Meticulous briefing sessions are being held at Police Headquarters under ADG Kabra’s direction, focusing on communication interoperability, aerial surveillance, and contingency response. Sources confirmed that coordination with the Special Protection Group (SPG) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) has been completed for perimeter sanitisation, anti-sabotage sweeps, and electronic counter-measures across all venues.
A senior officer at Police Headquarters told The Hitavada that a dynamic command-and-control structure has been created “to synchronise real-time monitoring with on-ground deployment, ensuring zero lapses during the Prime Minister’s movement.”
