Sanskardhani experienced a grand spectacle on Thursday night as the historic Vijayadashami Dussehra procession was taken out with full glory and tradition. Organised under the leadership of Govindganj Ramlila Committee, the procession commenced from Nagar Nigam Chowk and followed its customary route, attracting thousands of devotees and spectators.
Like previous years, the mega cultural and religious event begun in the afternoon from Miloniganj Chhota Fuhara and joined at Nagar Nigam Chowk, from where it moved forward in its traditional manner.
The burning of effigies of Ravan, Kumbhkaran and Meghnath at Miloniganj square and Chhota Fuhara marked the symbolic victory of good over evil.
Nearly two dozen tableaux, combining both traditional and contemporary themes were displayed during the procession. While the timeless depiction of the Ram-Ravan war remained center of attraction, several other tableaux highlighted cultural, religious and national issues such as Operation Sindoor, Atmanirbhar Bharat, Adi Yogi Shiv and Aghori Chandal, Hanuman entering Surasa’s mouth, Lord Laxmi Narayan, Shiv Poojan, Operation Asia Cup, Devbhoomi Disaster and Green Energy.
he highlight of the evening was the moving tableau of the Ram-Ravan battle, in which Lord Ram, Laxman and Sita were shown on a chariot facing Ravan. From Teen Patti to the immersion site at Hanumantal, both sides of the road were packed with devotees, leaving hardly any space to step. Nearly 21 idols from various Durga Utsav Samities joined the grand procession.
State PWD Minister, Rakesh Singh also participated in a unique manner, stepping away from his security cordon to mingle with the crowd and take darshan of the idols like a common devotee. Meanwhile, Collector Raghvendra Singh, Superintendent of Police Sampat Upadhyay and Municipal Commissioner Ramprakash Ahirwar worked tirelessly day and night to ensure smooth arrangements throughout Navratri and the Dussehra festivities. The procession, which began late in the night, was led by the idols of Nunhai Sarafa Durga Utsav Samiti and Sunarhai Durga Utsav Samiti,
both of which drew long lines of devotees waiting eagerly for darshan. The journey continued through the night, with devotees walking along the route until dawn.
The grand finale came with the idol of Mahakali from Garhafatak, which reached Hanumantal in the morning hours. Despite the late hour, devotees thronged the immersion site to see the final rites. The immersion of Mahakali took place with full rituals at 11 am, bringing the historic Vijayadashami celebrations to a majestic close. This year’s Dussehra procession will be remembered not only for its grandeur and devotion but also for the record-breaking crowd and the cultural richness displayed through its tableaux.
