The brutal murder in Kalamna, involving a
minor, is a fallout of old quarrel,
say police
A youth was murdered in Minimata Nagar, Kalamna, during a Durga immersion rally following an old dispute. The accused and his accomplices, who attacked the victim, have been taken into custody by Kalamna Police.
The complainant, Durgesh Lalji Chauhan (36), a resident of Minimata Nagar, Kalamna, works as a glass fitter. For the last three years, he had been assisted in this work by his tenant, Devendra Ajay Chauhan (26), a resident of District Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, who lived at his house in Nagpur.
According to police, on October 2, between 8.45 pm and 9 pm, Durgesh and Devendra were standing in front of Elements Harmony, Home and Designer Studio Building, Minimata Nagar, to watch the Durga Devi immersion rally. At the same spot, the accused - Aditya Nitesh Chacherkar (21) and Akash alias Tochu Nitesh Chacherkar (20), both residents of Minimata Nagar, Kalamna - along with a minor friend also were present.
While watching the rally, accused Aditya reminded Devendra about an earlier beating incident, and in anger, conspired with his brother and friend to attack him.
According to the police, Aditya caught Devendra, while the minor accused stabbed him
two to three times in the ribs with a knife. Akash allegedly helped in holding the victim during
the attack. Devendra was rushed first to a hospital in Wardhaman Nagar and then shifted to Mayo Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Kalamna Police registered a case of murder. Within hours, police arrested Aditya, Akash and detained the minor involved in the crime.
Police said, the motive behind the murder was an old quarrel between the victim and the accused.
Further investigation is underway.
