IN a landmark achievement, the State of Chhattisgarh has entered the national infrastructure map with the completion of its first National Highway tunnel in just 12 months. This engineering marvel is set to transform connectivity, boost trade, and open new avenues for socio-economic growth across the region.
The 2.79-kilometre tunnel forms part of the Raipur–Visakhapatnam Economic Corridor (NH-130CD), executed by the Abhanpur Project Implementation Unit of NHAI.
Once the twin-tube tunnel becomes fully operational, travel time between Raipur and Visakhapatnam will reduce considerably, giving a major boost to trade and industry while enhancing connectivity among Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
Expressing delight over the achievement, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai described the tunnel as a historic step towards building a prosperous and self-reliant Chhattisgarh.
He emphasised that the development of
road and transport infrastructure forms the backbone of progress, and the tunnel will open new avenues for tourism and socio-economic integration across the state.
The Chief Minister extended gratitude to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and the NHAI team for the remarkable accomplishment. He said that in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat, the project will pave the path of growth for generations to come.
