A trainee doctor at Korba District Medical College Hospital has accused a senior doctor of molestation. According to the victim, the senior doctor said, “You don’t feel well, let me check you up,” and then allegedly touched her inappropriately.
Police have registered a case and begun an investigation. Senior Ayurvedic doctor A K Mishra, posted in the AYUSH wing of the hospital, has been named as the accused. The complainant has been undergoing training in the same department for the past three months. The incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines police station. The incident reportedly took place on Saturday afternoon.
The trainee doctor had gone to Dr. Mishra’s staff room for official work. At the time, Dr Mishra and another staff member were present. The complainant alleges that Dr Mishra called her over and said, “You don’t feel well, I’ll give you a checkup.” When she refused, stating she was fine, he allegedly attempted to examine her forcibly and molested her. The trainee doctor managed to leave the room and immediately reported the incident to the dean of the medical college hospital KK Sahare who stated that the trainee doctor has filed a complaint against Dr A K Mishra. An internal redressal committee will investigate the matter. ASP Nitish Thakur stated that a case has been registered under Section 354.Further action will be taken after recording statements from both.
