A 17-year-old student was killed in a road accident at Kharbi Chowk on Tuesday morning while she was on her way to tuition. The deceased was identified as Bhagyashree Jiyalal Tembhere, a resident of Jijamata Nagar. She was a Class 11 student and was preparing for the NEET entrance examination. According to the police, the accident occurred around 7.30 am when Bhagyashree was riding her two-wheeler towards her coaching class. While overtaking a private bus on the narrow road, another scooter approached from the opposite direction.

 

Due to the lack of space, Bhagyashree lost control of her two-wheeler and fell on the road. She sustained griveous head injuries which resulted in her death on the spot. Police officers said that Bhagyashree was not wearing a helmet, which caused fatal head injuries. The bus driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. As news of the incident spread, an angry crowd gathered at the spot and blocked traffic, demanding action against the driver. The situation became tense for some time. Teams from Nandanvan and Wathoda police stations rushed to the site and managed to bring the situation under control. The police have registered a case against the unidentified vehicle and started an investigation. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to identify the bus and its driver.
