A 28-year-old woman and her one-year-old daughter were killed while her husband escaped unhurt in a road mishap which occurred in Gaya Nagar at Durg on late Tuesday morning. The husband on seeing the tractor coming from opposite direction lost control and the couple along with the daughter fell from the bike. The mother and daughter were crushed under the rear tyres of the tractor’s trolley while the husband who fell away from the road sustained minor scratches. Police have arrested the accused tractor driver Durga Yadav and legal proceedings against him were being initiated.
 
Durg Kotwali Police Station In-charge Inspector Tapeshwar Netam informed that at about 11:30 am, Gaya Nagar resident Vikas Sahu and his wife Monika (28) were taking their daughter Vamika (01) for medical checkup. The trio was on a motorbike and near a tent house on Chandi Chowk-Urla Road at Gaya Nagar, Vikas got unbalance after seeing the tractor coming from the opposite direction. The trio fell from the bike and Vamika was killed on the spot. Her mother Monika was rushed to District Hospital where she succumbed during the treatment. Meanwhile Vikas who sustained minor scratches was consoled by the local politicians who rushed to the scene of crime after learning about the incident. Durg Kotwali Police have seized the offending tractor and shifted the bodies to mortuary. 
 
4 hurt as car rams into divider

A speeding car crashed into a road divider, leaving four people injured in a mishap that occurred late Monday night at Central Avenue, Bhilai. According to information, the incident took place around 11 pm near Rail Chowk in Sector-7 when the speeding vehicle suddenly veered off course and rammed into the divider. The impact left the car’s front section badly damaged and both tyres deflated. It is yet to be ascertained whether a tyre burst caused the accident or if they burst upon impact. Following an alert, a team from Bhilai Nagar Police Station along with ERV-112 personnel reached the spot and rushed the injured to District Hospital, Durg, where they were administered first aid and discharged later. Police officials, however, said that no formal complaint has been lodged yet as none of the victims approached the station following the accident.
