3-day 27th Lekhika Natya Mahotsav inaugurated

Storytelling on stage in the form of a drama is not an easy task, and the drama ‘Ratnavali’ was a perfect epitome of good writing and storytelling. ‘Ratnavali’ dramatised the life of a story writer, drama writer and poet ‘Ratna’ who was passionate about writing from her school days. Rujuta Manohar, the writer and director of the drama, who also played the role of ‘Ratna’ in the stage play, justified the role on stage with her acting. Ratna got fame and name due to her writing in her college days, and her parents also supported her a lot to follow her passion. She dreamed of being a famous writer, and in the future her husband would also support her to live her dream.

Her dream shattered all of a sudden when her father died due to cardiac arrest and she had to get married to support her family. However, after marriage, Ratna tried to continue her dream, but her husband and mother-in-law did not support it. Ratna was compelled to discontinue her writing due to family pressure but also failed to live a happy life with her husband and son. As a result, she was left alone by her family. In the second session of the drama, she explained how her writing encouraged a girl and one of her friends, who in turn encouraged Ratna to write. After their encouragement, Ratna started writing, and everything started settling down slowly.

One day Ratna received her son Aditya’s call, and he realised his mistake, and the next day he came to Ratna’s house with his father. At the end, finally, her family realised their mistake and accepted her dream. Along with Manohar, Aparna Punekar, Swati Deshpande, Neeta Shende, Nishigandha Chafekar, Jayi Pitale, Sukrut Joglekar, and Shruti Punekar Shreya Punekar and Vinita Paithankar also showed their talent on the stage.
