“All bus stops in Jabalpur will soon be made fully equipped with passenger amenities and cleared of encroachments as part of major preparations under the PM e-Bus Scheme, which will introduce 100 air-conditioned electric buses in the city,” said Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh while chairing a review meeting to discuss operational readiness, maintenance planning and related infrastructure. Municipal Commissioner Ramprakash Ahirwar, Jabalpur City Transport Services Limited (JCTSL) CEO Sachin Vishwakarma, Assistant Sheetal Upadhyay and representatives of advertising agencies also attended the meeting.

During the discussion, the Mayor directed senior officials to ensure that all existing bus stops are upgraded and encroachment-free before the rollout of the new fleet. He said very soon, all bus stops operated by the Municipal Corporation will be equipped with basic passenger facilities. Old bus stops will also be cleared of encroachments, he added. Taking serious note of the poor condition of several bus shelters, the Mayor and Municipal Commissioner issued stern instructions to the advertising agencies responsible for their maintenance. They warned that legal action would be taken against agencies showing negligence.

They said the condition of many bus stops is extremely poor. Agencies are not taking proper interest, leading to encroachments and unhygienic surroundings. The Mayor asked the agencies to ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of allotted bus stops or they will face stern action. Municipal Commissioner Ahirwar also directed the JCTSL CEO to ensure that all work assigned to agencies strictly adheres to the prescribed guidelines and standards. “Any negligence will invite accountability in the next review meeting,” he said. Ahirwar said the PM e-Bus Scheme aims to modernise urban transport by providing eco-friendly and comfortable travel options. The arrival of 100 new AC buses will not only improve city mobility but also set a higher benchmark for public transport services in Jabalpur.
