In a heartwarming gesture of empathy and public connect, Municipal Commissioner Ramprakash Ahirwar on Saturday stopped during an inspection to personally interact with a roadside vendor and ensured his inclusion in the PM SVANidhi Scheme. While reviewing the city’s cleanliness arrangements near Prem Mandir in Wright Town, the Municipal Commissioner noticed an elderly vendor sitting by the roadside, selling small items to earn a living. Moved by the sight, Ahirwar walked up to him, greeted him affectionately and asked, “Dadaji, have you received Rs 10,000 under the PM SVANidhi scheme?”

The vendor, identified as Ballu Chaudhary, a resident of Ranital Dhobighat replied with folded hands that he had not yet received any benefit but was hopeful after the Municipal Commissioner’s visit. Touched by his response, Ahirwar immediately assured him that the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation would soon send a team to help him avail the benefit of the scheme so that he could continue his business with dignity and stability. The Municipal Commissioner then directed the concerned officer over the phone to process Ballu Chaudhary’s application without delay and ensure he received the financial support at the earliest. Ahirwar’s humane gesture drew appreciation from those present on the occasion. It reflected his commitment to reaching out personally to the city’s poorest citizens. The PM SVANidhi Scheme, launched by the Government of India, provides working capital loans up to Rs 10,000 to street vendors to help them restart or expand their businesses with self-respect and financial independence.
