The fifth evening of the ‘Khasdar Sanskrutik Mahotsav 2025’ turned into a full-fledged laughter carnival, as artistes from the popular Marathi television show ‘Maharashtrachi Hasya Jatra’ unleashed a barrage of comedy that had the Nagpur crowd clutching their stomachs with laughter. The sprawling grounds of Ishwar Deshmukh College, Hanuman Nagar, echoed with applause, whistles and merriment as skits, spoofs and character-driven humour kept the audience enthralled. Prajakta Mali and Sai Tamhankar set the tone instantly. Their entrance, Prajakta in a bright red sari and Sai in a vibrant purple lacha, drew a thunderous ovation. Sai’s effortless switch to Varhadi dialect brought instant rapport with Nagpurkars. “Nagpur is a piece of my heart,” she quipped, before launching into a playful culinary banter on Pune’s ‘panipuri’ versus Vidarbha’s beloved ‘gupchup’. When she remarked, “Nothing is ‘gupchup’ in Vidarbha, everything is open, just like Nitin Gadkari !” the entire arena erupted in laughter.

A chaotic hospital spoof featuring an accident patient (Pruthvik Pratap), his friend (Rohit Mane) and his bewildered wife (Vanita Kharat) delivered classic situational comedy. Nurses played by Rasika Vengurlekar and ‘Kokancha Ladooba’ Prabhakar More added teasing humour, while Dr Prasad Khadekar’s entry brought an extra dash of comic frenzy. Namrata Sambherao and Samir Choughule combined satire with social awareness through a witty sketch on road safety, cleverly blending punchlines with a civic message. Dance performances by students added youthful energy, earning loud appreciation.

The programme began with a graceful ‘Deva Shree Ganesha’ invocation, followed by melodious numbers by Chaitanya Devde. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Kanchan Gadkari, Information Commissioner Gajanan Nimdeo, and Editors Shrimant Mane (Lokmat), Shripad Aparajit (Maharashtra Times), Pramod Kalbande (Sakal), Ramesh Kulkarni (Punya Nagri) and Sandeep Bharambe (Navarashtra) inaugurated the evening with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. Bal Kulkarni and Renuka Deshkar compered the event.

A brief tribute was paid to the victims of the Delhi tragedy. By the end of the evening, Nagpur had received a refreshing dose of humour, a night where comedy truly stole the show. ‘Jagar Bhakticha’ concludes with devotional fervour Resounding chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya, Om Ganapataye Namah” filled the Ishwar Deshmukh College grounds on Tuesday as thousands participated in the 21 recitations of the Ganpati Atharvashirsha under the ‘Jagar Bhakticha’ segment of the Khasdar Sanskrutik Mahotsav. The collective chanting created a serene, uplifting spiritual atmosphere. The programme commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. Among the dignitaries present were Kanchan Gadkari, Anil Sole, Manisha Sant, Vijaya Bhusari, Dilip Shahakar, Bhagwatacharya Mohini Devpujari and karate coach Dhanashri Joshi. They were welcomed by Yogini Komejwar, Mayatai Hade, Sham Nisale, Neerja Patil and Nalini Wanjari. The event featured a yoga session by Sahaj Yoga, including demonstrations and guided practice.
