Unions oppose Govts move to privatise banks

EASTERN Maharashtra Bank Employees Association (EMBEA) staged a demonstration on November 11, in front of Bank of India, Kingsway, against the current policies of the Central Government in the banking sector, allowing FDI and merger of public sector banks which are aimed at completely demolishing and altering working conditions, rights at work place and trade union rights in favour of the employers’ class. The bankmen raised slogans, opposing anti banking policies of the Central Government.
 
The demonstration was led by Jaiwant Gurway, Chairman of EMBEA who raised slogans against privatisation of banks and banking reforms policies of the Government. Suresh Bhobhate, General Secretary of EMBEA addressed the gathering of around 300 bank employees and emphasised that the situation of the banking sector has deteriorated from bad to worse. He requested all the bank employees to be united in the struggle in opposing the unwarranted privatisation policy of banks by the Central Government.
