Dreams of 15 bright students from Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) schools took wings on Wednesday as they boarded a flight to Indore, a reward announced by Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh for students scoring above 85 percent marks. The students, all part of Mayor’s Gurukul, were given a warm send off at Dumna Airport by the Mayor, who congratulated them for their hard work and wished them success for the future. Their eyes brimmed with joy as they expressed gratitude, calling it a dream come true.

The initiative, started by the Mayor three years ago, aims to motivate students from Municipal Corporation schools through opportunities beyond academics. Each year, top scorers are taken on an educational air journey and a cultural tour. This year, the students stay at a five-star hotel in Indore and visit historical, spiritual and cultural landmarks of the city.

At the send off, MP Ashish Dubey, Collector Raghavendra Singh, SP Sampat Upadhyay, Municipal Commissioner Ram Prakash Ahirwar and several civic officials were also present. Under the Mayor’s vision, Gurukul was established to provide free coaching, along with training in music, dance, sports and competitive exams. Around 1,800 students across five JMC schools are benefiting from the programme. All five schools are now equipped with smart classes and computer labs, ensuring access to digital learning.

Regular activities including patriotic film screenings, annual cultural events, summer sports camps and confidence-building workshops are held throughout the year to support the holistic growth of students. Mayor said the children are the future of our city. When given the right environment and encouragement, their dreams can truly take flight.
