As a part of the Tribal Pride Fortnight, schools across Madhya Pradesh are organising a series of events to honour the contributions of tribal leaders and communities. The Government of India has declared November 15, the birth anniversary of revered freedom fighter and tribal leader Bhagwan Birsa Munda, as Tribal Pride Day to recognise the role of tribal freedom fighters in India’s independence struggle and cultural heritage.

Following directives from the State School Education Department, the Tribal Pride Fortnight is being observed in schools from November 1 to 15. Students are participating in a variety of activities designed to showcase tribal traditions, lifestyles, and their contributions to Indian society and culture. Activities include symposiums, tribal art displays on school walls or designated areas, performances of tribal music and storytelling, skits and plays, model-making competitions, quizzes, essay writing, and enactments based on the lives of notable tribal achievers.

Students are also visiting tribal museums and local tribal households or settlements, performing tribal dances and songs, and engaging in other educational activities to gain a deeper understanding of tribal heritage. On the occasion of Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s 150th birth anniversary, students are enthusiastically participating in these events, fostering awareness and appreciation of tribal culture while celebrating their rich legacy.
