Conflict in a local sand trading operation have escalated into a serious criminal incident, as late on Wednesday night, two hywa trucks parked outside a residence in Jhansighat, Shahpura, were intentionally set on fire after being doused with petrol. The vehicles were completely burnt in the blaze. Shahpura police confirmed that the damaged trucks belonged to Rohit Mallah, brother of Hanumant Mallah.

Although the fire brigade responded quickly, but the trucks had already been reduced to ashes and the accused fled the scene. Based on the details shared by the eyewitness, police have registered a case against sand trader Vipendra Singh Rajput, a resident of PNT Colony, Dhanvantari Nagar, and three of his associates.

They face charges including arson, property damage and violation of law and order situation. Investigators believe the incident was a direct act of retaliation stemming from a previous conflict. Police report details that Rajput was allegedly owed Rs. 26,000 for sand he had purchased from Lakhan Mallah. When Mallah’s repeated attempts to collect the debt were unsuccessful, he along with Hanumant, Akash and Arvind Mallah, invited Rajput for a meeting on November 7, 2025.

When the dispute was not resolved, the four men reportedly kidnapped Rajput, forcing him into a car. They drove him around the city for several hours while assaulting him before finally abandoning him on the roadside. Following a complaint filed by Rajput on November 9, all four accused Lakhan Mallah, Hanumant Mallah, Akash Mallah and Arvind Mallah, were arrested and subsequently jailed. The current incident was planned by Rajput and his associates appeared to be a violent response to the previous confinement. Police investigations into the complex syndicate conflict are ongoing.
