NEHAL Gosavi won the yellow metal while city-mate Nishika Gokhe settled for the bronze at the Yonex-Sunrise 2nd Maharasthra Senior State Selection Ramsheth Thakur Trophy Badminton Tournament, which was organised at Ramsheth Thakur International Sports Complex, Panvel, Ulwe, Navi Mumbai on Saturday. Nehal Gosavi along with Vriddhi Chaphekar edged past Ananya Gadgil and Sanika Patankar of Pune 23-21, 21-11 to be crowned champions in the women’s doubles category. They had earlier got over stubborn pair of Sonali Mirkhelkar and Sanskruti Satarkar of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar 21-15, 23-21 in the last-fours clash. While in the quarter-finals, the Nagpur girl with Thane-based partner sailed through Nashik pair of Nandini Bhargava and Shravni Patil defeating them 21-13, 21- 10 with ease.

 

While Nishika went down to Aarya Koregaonkar of Thane 9-21, 12-21 in the semi-final match to win the bronze medal in women’s singles category. Nishika had sailed through Shreya Shelar of Pune 21-8, 21-13 with ease during their quarter-final meet. While in the Round of 16 clash, Nishika had got over Pune’s Tanishka Deshpande 9-15, 16-14, 15-11 and in the Round of 32, she defeated Pune’s Rudraniraje Nimbalkar 15-6, 15-9.
