The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahanagar unit has organised ‘Mahila Sammelan’ on Tuesday under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Sankalp Abiyan. A large number of senior party leaders and workers, especially women members participated in the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Campaign convenor Dr Jitendra Jamdar said India can aim to emerge as a developed nation by 2047 only by strengthening self-reliance. He said the widespread use of locally made products is essential for this vision.
 
Dr Jamdar said that both the Central and State governments are working on policies that support self-reliance. He added that the expansion of self-help groups has helped women become economically stronger, with more than 10 crore groups active across the country. Dr Jamdar added that women’s education and employment opportunities have also improved gender balance, which now stands at 1,020 women for every 1,000 men. Expressing views on the occasion MLA Ashok Rohani said women are central to building a self-reliant India.
 
He said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister, several schemes have been launched for women’s welfare at a scale not seen before. Other senior party leaders also shared their views, encouraging party workers to adopt swadeshi products. District President Ratnesh Sonkar said the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Sankalpa Abhiyan started on September 25 and will continue till December 25. He said the Mahila Sammelan was organised to highlight the contribution of women in advancing Prime Minister’s vision. Sonkar added that women play a key role in household decisions and urged them to prefer locally made goods.
 
The programme began with Vande Mataram and floral tributes to national icons. The proceedings were conducted by Women’s Wing city president Rupa Rao, while General Secretary Reena Rai proposed a vote of thanks. Senior members including Preeti Vajpayee, Ratna Shrivastava, Madhubala Rajput, Archana Agrawal, Kalpana Tiwari, Neeta Rajak, Shweta Singh, Deepmala Keservani and many others attended the programme in large numbers.
