Cooch Behar Trophy
IKNOOR Singh and Om Dhotre put up a gallant fight but Vidarbha ended up conceding a 16-run first innings lead to Mumbai on Day 3 of the four-day U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy at the VCA’s Civil Lines Stadium on Tuesday.
Iknoor and Om resumed their seventh wicket partnership and took their team’s score to 295 before the former fell 10 runs short of a well-deserved century. The duo added 111 runs in 301 balls. Iknoor’s splendid 90 came off 197 balls with 13 hits to the fence.
Vidarbha still needed 41 runs at that stage to clinch the vital first innings lead. Om completed a fine half-century but lacked support from the other end.
He was out for 56 and Vidarbha’s last pair could not get their team across the line and the innings folded on 315.
Mumbai lost an early wicket, but Abhinab Saha (85*) and Vansh Chumble (59*) batted superbly to add 142 runs in an unfinished second wicket partnership to put the visiting side on top.
