In a sweeping crackdown on alleged irregularities in the Revenue Inspector (RI) promotion examination, the State Economic Offences Investigation and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SEOIACB) on Wednesday carried out coordinated search operations at 19 locations across seven districts in Chhattisgarh.

The action stems from Crime No. 64/2025, registered on November 18 under Section 7(c) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) and Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, and 120-B of the IPC, following prima facie evidence of organised collusion in the promotion process. According to officials, the case involves alleged manipulation within the exam operations committee, including those linked to question paper printing and distribution, as well as a suspected chain of liaisoning agents who allegedly facilitated promotions for select candidates.

Acting on inputs gathered during the preliminary inquiry, SEOIACB teams conducted simultaneous searches at premises associated with officers and employees connected to the process. The raids were carried out across Raipur (10 locations), Gariaband (1), Bemetara (1), Bilaspur (1), Kanker (1), Bastar (1), and Sarguja (4), covering the residences and premises of individuals under scrutiny. Officials confirmed seizure of digital evidence, transaction-linked agreements, and several important documents believed to hold prosecutorial value in the case.

All collected material is now undergoing detailed forensic and financial analysis to track potential collusion, financial trails, and unauthorised exchanges. A senior SEOIACB officer said the investigation is progressing on priority, with further legal and departmental action to follow based on the findings of the ongoing scrutiny.
