Assistant Grade-2 employee in Lokayukta net for taking bribe

Sleuths of Lokayukta police Jabalpur trapped an Assistant Grade-2 employee while taking bribe of Rs 1,500 for updating salary and increment of teacher of Government school, on Thursday. The accused has been identified as Shashikant Mishra (54), Assistant Grade-2, Office of the Block Education Officer (BEO), Jabalpur.
 
Superintendent of Police, Lokayukta Jabalpur, Anjulata Patle informed that acting on the strict directives of Director General of Lokayukta Police, Yogesh Deshmukh, Jabalpur Lokayukta unit conducted a successful trap operation on Thursday. SP Patle informed that Nannhe Singh Dhurve (45), resident of Bargi, Jabalpur, currently posted as a Primary Teacher at Ek Shala Ek Parisar, Pipariya, lodged a complaint that he was transferred from Balaghat to Jabalpur in June 2025.
 
However, after the transfer, his salary and annual increment were not updated. When he approached the BEO office regarding this issue, the accused assistant, Shashikant Mishra, demanded a bribe to process his salary and increment. Following the complaint, Lokayukta Jabalpur initiated verification and confirmed the demand for illegal gratification.
 
Subsequently, on Thursday, team trapped and caught the accused red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,500 in front of the BEO office, Jabalpur. Lokayukta police have registered a case against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (Amended 2018), Sections 7, 13(1)(B) and 13(2).
 
The corrupt employee was trapped with active working of team comprised of team In-charge Rahul Gajbhiye, Trap Officer Brijmohan Singh Narvariya, Inspector Jitendra Yadav, and Lokayukta Jabalpur team.
