The police in the State capital have busted a major act of hooliganism that occurred at a cafe located in Sage Milestone, under the Misrod Police Station area, within 24 hours of the incident. The attack, stemming from old rivalry among students, involved nearly two dozen masked assailants who vandalised the cafe and assaulted its staff.
Police have arrested five principal accused, while the search for others is ongoing.
According to Misrod Police, the incident took place on the evening of November 18, around 7 pm, at the Magic Spot Cafe in Sage Milestone. The complainant, Saksham Goswami (22), a resident of Mandideep, reported to the police that Nikhil Patel, Vasu Gupta, Yogi, Abhishek, and Rishabh, along with their associates, stormed the cafe armed with rods and swords. They immediately started verbally abusing people. When asked to stop, the group began assaulting Saksham and his employees and heavily vandalised the entire cafe.
Employee Rohit Bairagi sustained serious
injuries in the attack. Police stated that the attack was a result of an ongoing old rivalry between two student groups from Sage University. Given the seriousness of the incident, the police formed a joint task force. A joint team comprising personnel from Misrod, Bagsewaniya, Katara Hills, Govindpura and Piplani Police Stations conducted a thorough analysis of technical evidence, informant networks, and CCTV footage from the surrounding area.
Based on this, the police identified and arrested the five main accused within 24 hours. The police have seized two cars, one motorcycle, and the weapons (rods) used in the crime from the arrested accused. Names of the arrested accused: Om Singh Gaharwar alias Rishabh (20), resident of Sage Sun City Phase-1, Katara.
Abhilash Maran (26), resident of Village Bhaironpur, Misrod.
Yogi alias Yogendra Amrate (20), resident of Sage Sun City, Katara.
Devansh Singh (21), resident of D-Block 376, Sage Sun City, Katara.
Vasu Gupta (20), resident of Flat 201, Sage Sun City Phase-1, Katara Hills.
