carcass of a 60–65-year-old crocodile was found in Khandari reservoir on Saturday morning. The crocodile, measuring approximately 13–14 feet in length, is believed to have died due to natural age-related factors. Divisional Forest Officer Rishi Mishra (IFS) informed that soon after receiving information about the death of what is considered the oldest crocodile in the Khandari reservoir, a forest team reached the site and retrieved the carcass from the water. A team of veterinarians was called to the spot to conduct a detailed autopsy.

The preliminary investigation suggested old age as the primary cause of death, with no signs of injury or foul play observed during the examination. Following the autopsy, the last rites of the crocodile were performed near the Khandari reservoir, adhering strictly to wildlife conservation protocols and environmental safety guidelines. Forest officials expressed that the loss of such an old crocodile is significant, as these reptiles play an important role in maintaining ecological balance in the reservoir area. The department will continue monitoring the reservoir to ensure the well-being of the remaining aquatic wildlife.
