The high-handedness of the police uniform is once again making headlines on social media. A video of a street fight between a policeman and a young man went viral on social platforms on Saturday evening. The incident reportedly occurred outside a scooter service center in Narayan Nagar. The video clearly shows Head Constable Ram Avtar Dhakad brutally assaulting Sachin Kushwah, the service advisor. Onlookers quickly recorded the incident and posted the video on social media. Mechanic Rahul claimed that the Head Constable initiated the assault merely to avoid paying Rs 250
for a brake lever and even threatened to kill the employee.
The video also shows five other police personnel standing by at the scene, yet none of them attempted to intervene or stop the beating. According to information, the police officer arrived at the service center around 4:15 PM and demanded that the scooter’s brake lever be replaced immediately. When Sachin informed him that the cost of the lever was Rs 250, the officer became enraged and refused to pay, insisting the work be done through insurance. Sachin explained the insurance process, stating the claim settlement would take about a week.
Upon hearing this, Dhakad resorted to abusive language. When Sachin protested, the officer grabbed him, dragged him outside, threw him to the ground, and began kicking and punching him. Employee Jeevan, who tried to intervene, was also assaulted. Other Police Personnel Failed to Act: The Head Constable called other police personnel to the scene, but they all stood and watched.
No one attempted to restrain Dhakad. During the altercation, Sachin was allegedly threatened with death if he filed a complaint. Employees even called the 112 emergency number, but the police who arrived also did not attempt to stop Dhakad. Harinarayanachari Mishra, Police Commissioner, stated, “Taking cognizance of the video, the Head Constable posted in Bairagarh has been suspended with immediate effect. An inquiry has also been ordered against the other police personnel involved in the incident.”
