THE Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Innovation Cell (MIC), AICTE, CBSE, IIT Bombay and Ramdeobaba University (RBU), conducted the ‘Teachers’ Training Programme on Design Thinking & Innovation’ on November at Ramdeobaba University (RBU).
The programme progressed into expert-led technical sessions. Prof. Ravi Poovaiah, Professor, Retd., IDC, IIT Bombay introduced the fundamentals of design thinking and the innovation curriculum for schools. Rupa Chakravarthy, Director, Education, Suncity World School, Gurugram conducted a session on ‘Design Thinking, Creativity, and Innovation’ with a strong classroom orientation.
Prof. Amit Ray, Professor, Retd., IIT Kanpur led an engaging session on ‘Observation and Creativity’, guiding participants toward reflective and curiosity-driven learning practices.
In the afternoon session, Dr Ajanta Sen, Director, Jellow Labs delivered an interactive session on ‘Critical Thinking, Creative Thinking, and Storytelling’, followed by a toy design exercise jointly facilitated with Prof. Poovaiah, where teachers applied design thinking to develop educational prototypes. Prior to this, the inauguration was graced by Rajendra Purohit,
General Secretary, SRSS; Dr S S Mantha, Chancellor, RBU; Dr Rajesh Pande, Vice Chancellor, RBU; and Dr Rupesh Pais, Director, RCOEM TBI, along with the expert speakers.
The training enhanced the skills of 70 CBSE school educators from Nagpur and across Maharashtra, enabling them to integrate design thinking into teaching and supporting the Government’s vision of an innovation-driven school ecosystem aligned with NEP 2020.
