THE duo of Vikas Bisne and Rituja Madavi emerged champions in the 21 kms half marathon in men and women categories in third edition of Pulse Marathon, jointly hosted by Deep Foundation along with Sengupta Hospital and Research Institute, Ravinagar and Abhijit Realtors recently.
As a social cause they promoted the concept of ‘Run for Prolonged Lives’. The marathon runs were held in the following categories: 5 kms, 10 kms and 21 kms. The race started and ended at MLA Hostel, Civil Lines. More than 1450 runners from all across Vidarbha took part in the event. Race Director was Dr Shantanu Sengupta and was supported by Shubham Mahant and Shrikant Tapase.
The event was supported by Ascent Health Care Solutions and Ray No Sugar.
In the 21km race, Bisne clocked 01:12:28 and was followed by Mohit Kore (01:12:48) and Tejas Bankar (01:13:17) in the men’s section. Madavi (01:31:22) was the top woman with Nidhi Tarare (01:38:45) and Shraddha Pusadkar (02:02:05) following her. In the 10km run for men, Om Matram, Nikhil Bawne and Saurabh Bante took the honours while Nikita Sahu, Bhavna Sahu and Bhavana Gahankar took top three spots in that order in women’s race.
Top three finishers in men and women were given cash prizes. Age wise winners were provided with attractive momentoes. They include — Mohan Gaikwad, Yogesh Jaiswal, Vinod Gyanchandani, Amit Gupta, Baliram Kamble, Ami Patel, Shritika Budhraja, Shilpa Bhoyar, Rakhi.
Endurance athletes of the region who have done Full Ironman, Ironman 70.3 and international full marathons were felicitated. These elite athletes also guided the fellow runners about fitness, nutrition and hydration.
The dignitaries during prize distribution were Dr Rajasi Sengupta, Rajat Kapoor, Inu Majumdar and Shyamal.
