TWO teams from Delhi recorded wins in the 10th Haji Majid Ahmad Majju Seth All India Gold Cup Football Tournament under way at Military Football Ground Kamptee, on Sunday.
While Delhi Police pipped local outfit Young Muslim Football Club Nagpur 3-2, CISF Delhi blanked SJC Kerala 2-0.
In the first match, Delhi Police got off to a great start with Thangminlem scoring as early as in the fourth minute. Lal Nulnunpua made it 2-0 in the 34th minute of play.
With YMFC’s Sandeep expelled at 45+1 minutes, the visitors, at the stroke of half-time, raced to 3-0 as Eadad Khawbung registered his name on the scoresheet in 45+6 minutes.
With ten men, YMFC not only defended well but in the dying minutes brought the game into life with two quick goals. In the 85th minute, Fahad Junaid fired in one while four minutes later, Badal Soren found back of the net. YMFC’s four players — Sachin, Azam, Yash and Sagar were shown yellow cards.
In the second match, CISF Delhi scored one each on either side of the lemon break for a comprehensive 2-0 win over SJC Kerala. In the 34 minute, Bholo gave the team lead and post change of ends, Shaktinath scored the team’s second in 66th.
Monday’s fixtures: Red Army Bengaluru Vs Young Muslim FC Nagpur 1.30 pm and MYJ Mumbai Vs SJC Kerala 3.00 pm.
