Staff Reporter :
DIGVineet Kapoor chaired a
review meeting with gazetted
officers and gave directions per
taining to community policing
at SP Office, on Monday.
The meeting was attended by
Additional SP (City) Ayush
Gupta (IPS), Additional SP
(Traffic) Anjana Tiwari,
Additional SP (Crime) Jitendra
Singh, all CSPs/Deputy
Superintendents of Police
and representatives from vari
ous NGOs.
Addressing the officers, DIG
Kapoor emphasised that trans
parency and community polic
ing are essential in the chang
ing social and technological
environment. He said that with
evolving crime patterns and
emerging technologies, police
officers must adapt their work
ing style accordingly and dis
charge their duties with alert
ness and sensitivity. Sensitive
and responsive policing helps
avoid complications and
enhances efficiency.
DIG Kapoor stressed that com
munity policing can significantly
improve police–public relations,
creating an environment of trust
and cooperation. For proactive
policing, it is necessary to
involve citizens in efforts to con
trol criminals and anti-social
elements. He highlighted that
community-driven strategies
are highly effective in tackling
issues such as drug abuse, ille
gal liquor trade, unlawful min
ing activities, crimes against
women and in maintaining com
munal harmony.
He said that any person who
comes to a police station is
already distressed or victim
ized. They expect fair and law
ful action. Officers must there
fore listen patiently and respect
fully, take immediate legal
action and provide relief. If the
issue relates to another depart
ment, officers should coordi
nate with the concerned
department to ensure the com
plainant receives assistance.
Such efforts will strengthen
public trust and enhance the
image of the police department.
