FROM SCRAP TO ATTRACTIVE SCULPTURES JMC’s unique initiative to beautify the city

THE Jabalpur Municipal
Corporation (JMC) has intro
duced a new initiative that turns
scrap materials into artistic
installations aimed at beautify
ing the city. The effort reflects the
need for continuous innovation
using discarded items to build a
healthier and more sustainable
future for the next generation.
Under the initiative, unusable
iron parts, nails, bicycle chains,
tin sheets and other scrap col
lected from homes and public
places are being transformed into
attractive sculptures. At the
Cultural Street in Bhawartal, the
Municipal Corporation has
installed about 12 attractive fig
ures including a statue of Maa
Narmada, Nandi, a dancing
female figure, a dinosaur, a priest
performing Narmada aarti and
a bird feeding its young in a nest.
Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh
along with Municipal
Commissioner Ramprakash
Ahirwar and other officials vis
ited the street. During the visit,
he offered prayers at the feet of
Maa Narmada sculpture.
Singh said the initiative will
not only add to the city’s visual
appeal but also help clear scrap
from various areas. He said the
sculptures will be placed at major
squares, junctions and public
locations.
During the inspection, the
Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh and
Municipal Commissioner joined
artists in painting activities,
strengthening the JMC’s com
mitment to making cleanliness
a community movement. Their
participation encouraged the
artists and citizens present at
the site.
The Mayor urged residents to
put their household scrap to cre
ative use instead of discarding it
and contribute to the effort to
make Jabalpur one of the clean
est and most beautiful cities in
the country
