A KIOSK operator has been
arrested for misusing Aadhaar
update machines and forging
biometrics to earn money.
A case was registered at the
Bharveli police station based on
information that the accused
misused the ECMP Aadhaar
update system to generate three
fake biometric loans for licensed
operators and illegally update
Aadhaar.
A case has been registered
against the accused under sec
tions 336(3), 341(2), and 342(1)
of the IPC and is under investi
gation.
The accused, Mohsin Khan, a
resident of Bharveli, was illegal
ly operating Aadhaar update
machines from his kiosk centre
located at the Bharveli bus stand.
Misusing the letters available for
Aadhaar service centres at vari
ous locations, the accused got
multiple tenders placed in the
names of his family members
and acquaintances, and after
winning the tenders, he operat
ed the respective centres and
machines himself.
The accused was illegally tak
ing over the machines allotted
to authorised operators and
operating them from Bhareveli,
whereas these can only be oper
ated by the person in whose
name the system is authorised
and it is mandatory to operate
them at the designated location.
The accused also used the cre
ated triple-line fingerprints for
biometric authentication to
obtain system logins.
The accused created a triple
line digital image of the iris scan
ner displayed during login into
the Aadhaar system. Later, he
as the authorised operator.
The accused used VPN to
disguise the location of the
machine as an authorised loca
tion, allowing him to operate
various machines from
Bharveli. The items seized from
the accused are one laptop,
dummy fingerprints, dummy
eye iris prints, materials used
to make dummy iris and fin
ger prints.
The arrested accused has
been identified as Mohsin
Khan, son of Abdul Wahid
Khan (39), a resident of Ward
No. 02, Village Hirapurthana,
Bharveli, District Balaghat.
The entire operation was
done by team including SI
