Aayushi, Riddhi star in Vid’s win over HP

 

 

VIDARBHA girls bounced back after losing their opening game on Monday to beat Himachal Pradesh by seven wickets in the U-23 Women’s T20 Trophy match in Chandigarh on Tuesday. Aayushi Thakre, once again shone with the bat and ball to floor Himachal. She claimed three wickets for 21 runs and Arya Pongde scalped two to restrict Himachal to 119-9.

 

Vidarbha captain Riddhi Naik led the chase with a fine 32 and Riddhima Maradwar made 29 to pave the way for victory. Aayushi (21*) and Arya (15*) then saw their team home with an unfinished 33-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Brief scores: Himachal Pradesh 119-9 in 20 overs (Aayushi Thakre 3-21, Arya Pongde 2-15). Vidarbha 120-3 in 19 overs (Riddhi Naik 32, Riddhima Maradwar 29, Aayushi Thakre 21*, Arya Pongde 15*). Result: Vidarbha won by 7 wickets.
