BJP’s Yuva Morcha President arrested for ganja smuggling; 33 kg of contraband seized

In a major action against narcotics, the Nagpur Rural Police have arrested several accused, including a Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Katol Gramin Mandal Yuva Morcha President, for allegedly storing and selling large quantities of ganja (Marijuana). A total of 33 kg of ganja worth Rs 6.72 lakh has been seized.
The action was carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Cell. The raid took place after a confidential informant told police that Sameer Vijayrao Raut (24), a resident of Datewadi in Narkhed taluka, had rented a room in Chandak Layout, Ward No 7, near Ganesh Mandir, Katol, where ganja was being stored illegally.
When the police team reached the house owned by Rameshrao Gajbhiye, they found Sameer Raut along with - Sachin Bhagwat Jhod (22), of Dorli village in Katol, and Chhagan Pritam Charpe (23), of Datewadi, Narkhed. During the search, police found a large quantity of ganja.
During questioning, the accused revealed that Sameer Raut and Yuva Morcha President Vaibhav Dilip Kale, a resident of Dorli, helped arrange money to bring the ganja from Bolangir, Odisha in a Mahindra Bolero pickup (MH-40/DC-0093).
They also disclosed the names of others involved in the smuggling.
Others named in the case include: Suraj Babarao Supatkar, resident of Datewadi, Narkhed Vishal Devidas Shebhenkar, resident of Mendhala, Narkhed.
Police seized 3 mobile phones, a Bolero pickup vehicle, the ganja, and other material. The total value of seized items is Rs 17,17,000. A case has been registered under various sections of the NDPS Act, including Sections 8, 20, 22, and 29. Police said that the arrest process is ongoing and more action will follow based on the investigation. The arrest was made under the guidance of SP Dr Harssh Poddar.
