PANAGAR police have unfolded the blind murder mystery of
a woman and arrested her relative for killing her within 24-
hours of the incident. The
accused killed the elderly
woman relative out of greed for
her land and pension money.
The arrested has been identified as Tulsi Kevat (42), a resident of village Badera, currently
living in Bhatta Mohalla,
Subhash Ward, Panagar.
Additional SP (Crime),
Jitendra Singh, while addressing a press conference on
Tuesday, informed that on
November 16, the body of an
unidentified woman was found
near chimney brick kiln area in
village Nargawan in Panagar.
SHO, Panagar Vipin Tamrakar
and team reached the spot.
Senior officers including SP
Jabalpur Sampat Upadhyay,
CSP Adhartal Rajeshwari
Kaurav and FSL officer Dr Neeta
Jain also inspected the spot.
On the basis of post-mortem
report, Panagar police had registered a case under Sections
103(1) and 238(1) of BNS.
Investigating the case, police
identified the victim as Phool
Bai Kevat (58), wife of late
Rikhi Ram Kevat, a resident
of village Nibhaura, Panagar.
In further investigation, police
learnt that the elderly woman
had two sons and two daughters and had been living alternately with them.
For the past
month, she was staying with
her relative Tulsi Kevat.
During interrogation, Tulsi
Kevat confessed that Phool
Bai used to receive her late
husband’s pension and owned
1 acre of land in Nibhaura.
Hoping to inherit her property and money, Tulsi had
been taking care of her for a
month. When Phool Bai
refused to give her money or
transfer the land, Tulsi was
enraged.
When she was leaving his
house to visit her brothers,
Tulsi stopped her in
Nargawan, attacked her with
bricks and strangled her to
death. Based on his disclosure, police recovered broken
bricks used in the crime.
The blind murder mystery
was solved with the active
working of police team led by
