SA Rahim Under-15 Inter-School Tournament
 
TWO double centuries marked opening day of the VCA-organised SA Rahim U-15 Inter-School Tournament on Tuesday. Seven matches were played on the opening day of the tournament. In a high-scoring match played at the SFS College Ground, Sanskar Vidya Sagar, Nandanvan, defeated Neeri Modern School by 3 wickets. Neeri piled up 374-2 in 50 overs with Praval Bambal (168, 141b, 19x4, 7x6) and Parth Seth (157, 152b, 26x4, 1x6) both registering big hundreds. However, the total proved to be inadequate as Viraj Verma led Sanskar Vidya Sagar to victory with a splendid 218. He faced 223 deliveries and hit 35 boundaries and three sixes.
 
In another match, Arnav Kolhe was the star performer with a 135-ball 212 (26x4, 6x6) as he helped MKS Sancheti Public School post 343-6 in 50 overs. Roshan Verma then claimed seven wickets for 16 runs to bowl out Shahu’s Garden High School for only 41 runs as they lost by 302 runs. Ashish Khemani of DPS, Kamptee Road, who made 115, and Aarav Dhendhwal of St Xavier’s HS, MIDC, were the others to reach three-figure mark. The tournament was inaugurated by Syed Ajaz Rahim, son of former Ranji Trophy captain and fast bowler SA Rahim at the WCL ground. The tournament is being played in a knock-out-cum-league format. As many as 50 teams are taking part in the inter-school meet. VCA’s Chief Curator Praveen Hinganikar was also present at the inaugural function.
