AFTER more than one year, the process for appointment of new Vice-Chancellor of the RTMNU has gathered pace. It has been learnt that five candidates have been invited for an interview by the Governor on November 30.
Though there is no official word from the shortlisted candidates or the university authorities, ‘The Hitavada’ has learnt that names of Dr Manali Kshirsagar, Director (Technical) and Advisor, Meghe Group of Institutions; Dr Subhash Kondawar, who recently retired as Pro Vice Chancellor of RTMNU; Dr Smita Deshmukh of Shri Shivaji Education Society, Amravati; Dr Prashant Patil of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, one from IIT, Roorkee; and Dr Kolhe of Norway are doing rounds for the interview.
The latest development confirms that RTMNU might get a new VC very soon contrary to the perception that appointment could be made only once a full-time Governor is appointed. Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat is holding additional charge of Maharashtra after C P Radhakrishnan became Vice-President of India. He had constituted a Search Panel during his tenure as State Governor. The Search Panel had shortlisted 28 names whose interviews were held on October 3 and 4, 2025.
The VC selection had become a long-stretched exercise due to various reasons. Additional Divisional Commissioner Dr Madhavi Khode-Chaware is taking care of RTMNU since last one year. She had replaced Dr Prashant Bokare, who had been handed additional charge of the university apart from being VC of Gondwana University. The move was necessitated after the death of then VC Dr Subhash Chaudhari in September 2024.
