JABALPUR Municipal
Corporation (JMC) has started a
100-day winter action plan to
curb rising pollution levels and
improve the city’s air quality. The
initiative was launched at JMC
headquarters, where Mayor Jagat
Bahadur Singh flagged off 32 specialised vehicles equipped with
modern dust-control and cleaning machinery. Speaking on the
occasion, the Mayor said the
campaign marks a decisive step
towards cleaner air, especially
during winter when dust and
particulate matter rise sharply.
He said that improving air quality remains a top priority for the
civic body and the plan reflects
a commitment to public health.
He said a key feature of the drive
is use of advanced technology.
Defog machines will spray an
ultra-fine mist on roads and open
areas to settle airborne dust.
Mechanical road sweepers will
operate on major routes, while
jetting machines will be deployed
at key junctions for regular cleaning.
Officials said these methods
will help reduce suspended particles that worsen winter pollution.
The action plan also focuses on enforcement, construction
sites will be required to follow
pollution-control rules such as
installing nets and conducting
regular sprinkling. A special drive
will check pollution certificates
and take action against vehicles
emitting excessive smoke. Open
garbage burning will remain
strictly prohibited, particularly at
night. The civic body will also promote roadside plantation and
expansion of green corridors.
Municipal Commissioner
Ahirwar said the combined use
of modern equipment and citizen cooperation will help the city
achieve measurable improvement in its Air Quality Index over
next 100 days.
He added that the
campaign aims to reach every
part of the city to maintain clean
and breathable air.
JMC administration has
appealed to residents to follow
pollution-control guidelines and
support efforts to keep the city
clean and healthy.
