PRIME Minister Narendra Modi
will attend the 60th All India
Conference of Director Generals
and Inspector Generals of Police
at the Indian Institute of
Management (IIM), Nava Raipur
Atal Nagar, Chhattisgarh, on
November 29 and 30.
The three-day conference,
from November 28 to 30, aims to
assess progress in tackling major
policing challenges and to chart
a forward-looking roadmap for
a ‘Surakshit Bharat’ aligned with
the national vision of ‘Viksit
Bharat’.
The event is themed
‘Viksit Bharat: Security
Dimensions’. Key issues on the
agenda include Left Wing
E x t r e m i s m ,
counter-terrorism, disaster
management,
women’s safety,
and the use of
forensic science and artificial intelligence
in policing.
During the conference, the
Prime Minister will also present
the President’s Police Medals for
Distinguished Service.
The conference provides a vital
platform for senior police officials and security administrators
nationwide to exchange views
on national security concerns.
Discussions will focus on operational, infrastructural, and welfare challenges faced by police
forces, alongside sharing best
practices for crime control, law
and order maintenance, and
internal security responses.
Since 2014, under the Prime
Minister’s guidance, the conference format has evolved, with
venues rotating across the country including Guwahati, Rann of
Kachchh, Hyderabad, Tekanpur,
Kevadiya, Pune, Lucknow, New
Delhi, Jaipur, and Bhubaneswar.
This year, continuing the tradition, event will take place in
Raipur.
The conference will be attended by Union Home Minister Amit
Shah, National Security Adviser
Ajit Doval, Ministers of State for
Home Affairs Nityanand Rai and
Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Directors
General of Police from States and
UTs, and heads of central police
organisations.
To foster innovation, senior Home Department
officials and select police officers at DIG and SP ranks will also
participate physically.
This annual event encourages
frank discussions and interaction with the Prime Minister
through business sessions,
breakout groups, and thematic
dining table talks, aiming to
introduce fresh ideas to
strengthen India’s internal security framework.
