IN A tragic accident, two
cousins died on the spot when
their bike collided head on with
a pick-up late on Thursday
night near village Kuda on
Amarkantak Dindori road. The
deceased were identified as residents of Chhindgaon, under
jurisdiction of Shahpur police
station. They were returning to
Dindori from Sagartola after
distributing wedding invitation to their relatives.
Meanwhile, at around 11 pm,
a pick-up coming from Dindori
and going towards to Gadasarai
collided with a motorcycle
coming from the opposite
direction.
The motorcycle was stuck in
the front of the pick-up and
was dragged for approximately 100 meters. The motorcycle
caught fire and burned completely within a short time. The
pick-up driver abandoned the
vehicle and fled the scene.
Upon receiving information
about the accident, a Dial 112
vehicle arrived at the scene and
initiated action.
The deceased
have been identified as
Mahendra Vishwakarma (22),
son of Vishnu Vishwakarma,
and Vipin Vishwakarma (23),
son of Charan Vishwakarma,
residents of Chhindgaon village in Shahpur police station
area. They are cousins.
Mahendra's father, Vishnu Lal,
58, son of Premlal
Vishwakarma, a resident of
Chhindgaon village, told police
that Mahendra and Vipin had
gone to Sagar Tola, Gadasarai,
on a motorcycle (MP 52 ME
2005) to distribute their
nephew’s wedding cards. On
return, at around 11 pm, a
speeding pickup (MP 52 GA
0983) hit their bike near
Polytechnic College in Kuda
village.
Mahendra and Vipin
suffered serious head, leg,
chest and arm injuries and
both died on the spot.
Police have registered a case,
seized the pickup vehicle, and
started searching for the
driver.
On Friday morning, the bodies of two cousins were handed over to their families after
post-mortems at the district
hospital.
