The play ‘Shikar’, which presents the devastating truth of today’s fast-paced world, such as a big but unrealistic dream, the decision to go abroad to earn a lot of money in a short time, but taking the family into account while making it, and the life-threatening reality of going abroad - and the husband and wife who are left in a state of shock from this, highlights the fractious bonds of relationships and the fracturing family system. The play ‘Shikar’, written by Urmila Deshpande and directed by Prabha Deoskar, was presented on Saturday as part of the ‘Lekhika Natya Mahotsav 2025’ organised by Padmagandha.
 
Abha and Alok, a young couple, go to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, despite their family’s opposition, get a four-year work visa, and before they can understand the reality there, they land in trouble. The writing, direction and acting as well as all the technical aspects were excellent. Acting and direction was also top class. The music, lighting and backdrop further enhanced the quality of the play. The end of the play was thrilling and the entire hall stood in applause. The play stars Shekhar Mangalamurthy, Mayuri Tongale, Vedant Vyas, Prabha Deoskar, Varsha Deshpande, Megha Aurangabadkar, Sarthak Pandey, Venkatesh Aichit. The beautiful backdrop of the play was by Vijay Deoskar. The stage arrangement was by Satish Kalbande, the lighting was by Shivshankar Malode, and the music by Anil Indane. The play also commented on how important it is to understand the reality of the place where we are going and make wise decisions.
