The Power of Human Mind

These days, I see people thinking and worrying about rapid and dynamic changes taking place all over the world. People fear climate change, loss of green cover from Warth, extinction of animal and bird species as well as the increasing presence of automation and artificial intelligence in human life. Many believe that technological and digital advancements that took place over the past few decades have made man move away from his roots we well as culture. But then I thought to myself, are the new trends and technological advancements and new ways of doing regular things really a threat?

We have survived far too many crises as a human race to be threatened by technology, I feel. We have seen wars and deceit, we have endures famines and pandemics, most of all, but we have kept evolving continuously. So why fear now? Is the disconnect an unavoidable phenomenon or we choose it? Culture won’t just die away until we decide to snuff it. God gave humans the power of thinking and action so that we can shape and control the world and decide for other living beings. But what we really did? We blame Nature for calamities, disasters and climate disturbances, but forget our role in it. When questioned, they put forth the need for sacrifices to facilitate development. But, can we not make progress without maintaining our cultural identity and environment. Many countries in the world are balancing environment and culture along with material development, Japan, China, Russia, to name a few. Human mind is powerful, it has the potential to create, destroy as well as transform things.

It may not be perfect but it’s reach is still exhilarating. We might fear that AI and technological advancements would one day take away all our jobs. But remember, it is the same human brain that survived advent of the computer and the internet. The same fears had gripped people back then. But now as we see it, these advancements have only made our lives easier. So, instead of worrying and fearing, we must learn to adapt to the changing times. Fearing change is not the way forward. So, let us allow the light in, for it will only drive away the darkness of ignorance...how we keep out roots intact, if purely our responsibility.
